HUMBOLDT, Iowa – Authorities say a northern Iowa teenager has died after his snowmobile hit a cable in Humboldt.
Officials say 17-year-old Tanner Ruberg, of Hardy, was riding snowmobiles with friends Wednesday evening when he hit the cable and was knocked off his snowmobile.
Police say Ruberg was possibly trying to go around a telephone pole when he hit a guy wire.
Ruberg was taken to a hospital in Humboldt, then transferred to a hospital in Fort Dodge. He died Thursday morning.
The accident is under investigation.
