Man injured in Clay County snowmobile crash

SPENCER, Iowa — A Prairie City, Iowa, man was taken to the hospital with injuries Saturday after being thrown from his snowmobile in Clay County.

The accident happened at 2:02 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Highway 71 near Spencer.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released today that Justin Vetter, 29, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control causing the snowmobile to roll end over end.

Vetter was taken to Spencer Municipal Hospital by ambulance, and later life flighted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. His condition was not immediately available Monday.
