Monroe County snowmobile crash proves fatal

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help as it investigates a snowmobile crash in Bedford Township in which a man was killed and a woman injured.

Joshua A. Brennan, 29, of Temperance was killed in the crash in the Douglas and Consear roads area northeast of Bedford Public Schools bus garage. The incident was reported at 10:56 p.m. Friday.

Rachel A. Yeupell, 22, of Temperance, a passenger on the snowmobile, was injured in the accident and is in stable condition at Toledo Hospital.

According to sheriff’s office investigators, Brennan was operating a 1999 Arctic Cat ZL 550 snowmobile east on the baseball diamond when he swerved to avoid crashing into the ball diamond backstop.

He was thrown from the snowmobile into the snow next to the backstop. Yeupell also was thrown from the snowmobile and landed near Brennan as the snowmobile rolled over and eventually came to rest nearby.

Brennan and Yeupell were taken by ambulance to Toledo Hospital in Toledo where Brennan was pronounced dead from his injuries, according to investigators. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and neither appeared to have been drinking alcohol, sheriff’s investigators said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call sheriff’s investigators at 734-240-7565.
