Polaris Industries May Make Vehicles in China

Medina, Minnesota-based snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) manufacturer Polaris Industries (NYSE: PII | PowerRating) just announced that it would possibly kick off production in China.

The US company hopes that localization could help lower prices of its products in China and expand its market share in the world’s leading auto market.

In fact, it has brought its products, which have been quite popular with customers in such regions as the US and Europe, to a total of 116 countries around the globe.

This month, 32 major executives of Polaris Industries will come to China, so that they can know well the Chinese market for the sake of bigger investments in development of the market.

The US company is set to firstly set up five stores in five selected cities, selling its current products. Next, it will tailor products for Chinese customers. But the company did not tell whether it would make vehicles along with Beijing United Automobile Motorcycle Manufacturing Co. (BAM), which is under the wing of Chinese state-owned auto giant Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (BAIC).
