In 2003, the state of New York calculated the economic impact of snowmobiling to be $875 million annually. No doubt that figure is closer to a billion now. Some rural communities, particularly in the Adirondacks, could not survive without income from snowmobile tourism.
In order to bring attention to the economic benefit snowmobiling brings to our communities, snowmobilers will be spending $2 bills over the next week or so, targeting Presidents Day weekend.
If you are a snowmobiler, please make an effort to get as many $2 bills as you can and spend them where you ride. Your bank may have to order them and it may take a few days, so get to the bank as soon as possible.
If you are an owner or employee of a local business, you will probably notice an increase in $2 bills floating around. In fact $2 bills are so rare that if you even see one in the next week or two, you’ll probably notice it.
