Teton County bans snowmobiles from road

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) – Teton County commissioners have reversed course and banned snowmobiles from Buffalo Valley Road after residents complained of potential dangers and reduced property values.

The commissioners last week voted to revoke a Nov. 17 decision allowing snowmobiles on the road, citing a lack of notice given to area residents before the decision.

Chairman Hank Phibbs says he thought he was voting to allow snowmobiles on 1.6 miles of road, not the entire road.

Snowmobiles are allowed on county roads only with approval of commissioners.

Heart Six Ranch in Buffalo Valley had asked for the approval to encourage snowmobilers to frequent the restaurant and lodging in winter.
