HUNTERDON COUNTY — A Kingwood Township couple were injured when their snowmobile went off an embankment Saturday night during the heavy snowfall that blanketed New Jersey, officials said.
The man and woman suffered serious injuries, and were taken to Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton, according to the Kingwood Rescue Squad. Their names and ages were not available this morning.
The couple’s snowmobile went over the steep embankment in the woods about 20 feet from Tumble Idell Road, rescue squad Lt. Tom Leone said this morning. The two adults were removed from the crashed snowmobile with ropes and baskets, Leone said.
Leone said he responded to the call around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night. Other squad members, including the captain, were snowed in, he said.
A township snowplow helped rescue vehicles through the narrow Tumble Idell Road, and county plows helped clear main roads to the accident scene, Leone said.
State Police in Kingwood said the accident was one of the few reported in the area Saturday night.
